Fuel – OptimOT: Optimized oil transport for PFI dual-fuel combustion of future marine fuels -
The Fuel – OptimOT project investigates and optimizes oil transport in PFI dual-fuel combustion using future marine fuels. The focus is on the tribological system of marine internal combustion engines, the optimization of pistons and piston ring systems, and the development of models and measurement techniques for investigating oil transport phenomena.

Project Objectives
- Analysis of the Performance of a MeOH-DF-PFI Combustion Process Using Current Technological Components
- Optimization of the Piston and Piston Ring System for Oil Transport
- Development of Models to Describe Oil Transport Phenomena in the Tribological System at FM49
- Further Development of Measurement Data Acquisition Systems and Specialized Measurement Technology
Potential
- Understanding the Tribological System of Marine Internal Combustion Engines When Using Alternative Fuels
