ELECTROLYSIS (POWER-TO-GAS)

An important step, in the system of the innovative energy cell, is to make the surplus electricity from renewable energies storable in chemical form. Electrolysis is an essential component of the WTZ Roßlau to realize a closed material cycle in the energy cell. Alkaline electrolysis is used as the power-to-gas unit. With the help of electricity, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen. Both substances are discharged and, if necessary, temporarily stored in a tank. WTZ Roßlau does not rest on the current state of the art, but develops new solutions to continuously increase the service life and efficiency of alkaline electrolysis.

The basic advantages with this form of electrolysis are high long-term stability, low investment costs, no use of rare precious metals and high efficiency.
