Environmental protection

The driving force behind future developments in diesel and gas engines remains the demand for further emissions reductions and high efficiency. This involves both optimizing existing solutions and developing new technologies and processes.
Innovative solutions for increasing efficiency and reducing fuel consumption will continue to gain importance, without neglecting compliance with increasingly stringent global emissions standards for engines in stationary and mobile applications.
For large engines, there is a clear trend toward natural gas, which is more cost-effective and associated with lower pollutant emissions.
The search for alternative fuels or fuel combinations that can be used economically and environmentally responsibly in full-power engines remains another driving force behind research and development efforts.
The current emission targets (IMO Tier III) for marine engines both within and outside the so-called “emissions control areas” (ECAs) will, on the one hand, necessitate the increased use of effective and service-friendly exhaust aftertreatment systems and, on the other hand, help promote the wider use of natural gas as a fuel in marine operations. These requirements offer a broad and sustainable field of activity for the WTZ Roßlau.
