Tree-Planting Challenge in Roßlau

Published by

A tree that says more than words ever could: Our “Schöner aus Boskoop” has arrived.

Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most.
When we took on the tree-planting challenge a few weeks ago, one thing was clear:

We don’t just want to be part of it.
We want to take responsibility.

For Roßlau. For our region. For the future.

Last week was the big day:
Right in front of the WTZ RoßlauConstruction and Energy Center, an apple tree of the “Der Schöne aus Boskoop” variety has found its home.

And I am especially proud that three of our employees—Maik Genetzki, Ulrike Pakendorf, and Stefan Decker—planted this tree together.

Not just for the sake of it, but out of their own initiative.
Because they believe in what we’re doing here.
Because for us, sustainability isn’t a “top-down” approach—it happens together.

While we were out there moving dirt, I realized once again how closely a sense of home is linked to technology, industry, and nature, as well as to the future and responsibility.

This tree is more than just an apple tree.
It stands for:

🌳 Roots – our connection to Roßlau and the people who shape this community
🌳 Team spirit – employees who roll up their sleeves because they believe in the idea
🌳 Consistency – a tradition of cultivars dating back to 1856, robust and resilient
🌳 Circular economy – up to 80 kg of apples per year, right on our doorstep
🌳 Attitude – the courage not only to plan for change, but to plant it

While technologies that will shape the powertrains of tomorrow are being developed at the WTZ, a piece of nature is growing right outside, reminding us every day why we’re on this path.

Not because we have to.
But because we want to.

Thank you to everyone who got this initiative off the ground and to all my colleagues who made this tree possible. 💚

Sincerely,
Christian Reiser
