Multiple unit demonstrator with H2 combustion and health monitoring - TRAINS_UV15

The overall objectives of the joint project are, on the one hand, to develop a new type of combustion engine for hydrogen operation that can replace diesel engines in existing multiple units. Directly linked to this is the development of a tank system that meets the requirements for operation with hydrogen and can be integrated into existing trains. New and innovative approaches to hydrogen storage should also be considered, such as LOHC, ammonia or metal hydride storage.

On the other hand, a concept is to be developed to convert existing LINT 41 vehicles from Alstom (e.g. DB series 648) to hydrogen combustion engines. The concept also includes the conversion of a demonstrator vehicle with limited approval.
