WTZ supports innovative hydrogen project in Sonneberg

Around 80 participants, interested parties and partners from the WIR! alliance, came together on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Schlossberg in Sonneberg to discuss the future prospects of the hydrogen economy in the region of Central Germany and Thuringia. Presentations by partners of the alliance on the hydrogen refueling station of the future, the argon power cycle as an alternative to the fuel cell and green drives at Deutsche Bahn were on the agenda of the meeting.

As a partner in a pilot project for “hydrogen production, heat generation and on-site power generation” in Sonneberg, WTZ Roßlau gGmbH is making its argon power cycle engine available for the demonstrator line to be set up there. This world’s first recirculating engine running on hydrogen enables the operator to generateCO2-neutral electricity. The town hall in Sonneberg would like to use this technology to ensure their emergency power supply and to familiarize the population with the topic of hydrogen and its possible applications.
