How can we make ships more environmentally friendly?
The answer: with the help of methanol as fuel!
In the Hashtag#MeOHmare project, we are developing solutions for shipping at the WTZ.
Our goal: ➡️ Use methanol as a sustainable fuel.
Why exactly methanol now? 🧐
➡️ Methanol can be produced in a CO2-neutral way if it is produced using the Power-to-X process.
In this process, green hydrogen is obtained by electrolysis and synthesized with CO2 from the air to produce e-methanol.
This significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and offers a clean alternative to conventional marine fuels.
Our project:
✅ We are working on an endurance test bench for methanol injection components.
This test bench enables us to test the methanol fuel pump as well as methanol injectors under almost real conditions.
Our partners Woodward L’Orange GmbH and Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG are supporting us in the development of these key components.
