Internal combustion engines have no future?
Tell that to the Argon Power Cycle…😉
Because that could be part of the solution – not the problem.
Here are exclusive insights into our research project on the hashtag#ArgonPowerCycle (APC)
That’s what the project was about:
❓How can you optimize a cycle engine with spark ignition so that it is efficient, powerful and emission-free?
Our findings so far:
✅ APC works – we were able to achieve loads comparable to those of gasoline operation.
✅ By specifically varying the inert gases and compression ratio, we were able to influence efficiency and stability.
✅ Particularly exciting: the Miller cycle shows potential for even more power, but still needs fine-tuning.
✅ In the simulation, APC is even more cost-efficient than fuel cells or H₂-air engines
✅ And: the storage of hydrogen and oxygen makes it possible to store surplus electricity temporarily – and later reconvert it into electricity without emissions!
We are currently going one step further with the FVV project 1493: We are investigating APC variants with high-pressure injection and compression ignition – to find out which configuration has the most potential.
Our conclusion: the APC is no longer a dream of the future – it is a real building block for a climate-neutral energy supply. And that is exactly what we need if we really take the 1.5° targets seriously.
