Modernization of the Research Infrastructure at the WTZ, Part 2
Project description
At WTZ Roßlau gGmbH, with funding from the state of Saxony-Anhalt through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the research infrastructure is undergoing extensive modernization to support innovative projects involving the renewable fuels of the future: hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia. The project focuses on the areas of emissions measurement technology, indoor air conditioning, fuel systems, and test bench automation.
The funding is intended to support investment in test bed infrastructure in order to create the opportunity to investigate innovative combustion processes and thus actively shape the future of large engines in light of the upcoming energy transition. In addition to conventional fuels, a wide range of renewable energy sources is also available. In this context, combustion processes involving low- and high-pressure injection, as well as numerous fuel combinations, can be investigated for a wide variety of engine applications. Emissions testing, in particular, plays a key role here. Test bench automation makes it possible to perform accurate and reliable measurements, which significantly facilitates research on the test engines.
