Modernisation of research infrastructure in the WTZ part 2

Project description

At WTZ Roßlau gGmbH, the research infrastructure for innovative projects involving the renewable fuels of the future – hydrogen, methanol and ammonia – is being extensively modernized with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) provided by the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The focus of the project is on emission measurement technology, ambient air conditioning, fuel peripherals and test bench automation.

The funding is to be used to invest in the test bench infrastructure in order to create the possibility of investigating innovative combustion processes and thus actively shaping the future of large engines with a view to the upcoming energy transition. In addition to conventional fuels, a wide range of renewable energy sources is also available for this purpose. In this context, combustion processes with low- and high-pressure injection and numerous fuel combinations can be investigated for a wide range of engine applications. The investigation of emissions in particular plays an important role here. The test bench automation makes it possible to perform accurate and reliable measurements, which greatly facilitates investigations on the research engines.

We would like to thank the Investitionsbank Sachsen-Anhalt and the European Union for their active support within the framework of the Research Equipping funding program and look forward to the exciting tasks that lie ahead.
